IS YOUR VINYL COLLECTION IMPRESSIVE?

record shelves

By Dale

You bet it is, it does not matter how big or how small your collection is, it really is impressive when it is seen. One other thing is that collection is a great conversation starter.

Of course, I am assuming that you are little bit like me and keep your record collection where it is visible and usable in your home. Now when friends come over, you will notice that they seem to migrate over to the collection and proceed to look through some of the records. Oh, it is important that you are paying attention as to how these records are handled.

Funny thing about handling records, because I have always handled my records properly and make sure that they are not damaged I tend to think others have the ability and willingness to handle them carefully too. So, as I said it is important that when you have anyone looking at your collection that you either take a minute and tactfully tell them how you would like to have your records handled or just watch and instruct if they do not show the care and caution that you would like to see.

Record CollectionNow let’s say we have moved past that care issue. You will notice that everyone either notices a record that they will comment on or ask you about. It may be a song that they remember and a certain album cover triggers that thought and they bring it up and the conversation is on. Additionally, I always hear things like, I used to have a bunch of albums, but they got thrown out, or we needed the space and they had to go and maybe we started listening to CDs, so we gave them away. Whatever is said about those records is easy for you to talk about because they are something you are passionate about and without a doubt have a growing wealth of knowledge on anything to do with them.

Somewhere in that conversation you will hear them lament to wishing they had kept those records. You as the proper host are in the great position to let them know how much fun you are having collecting and enjoying, and it certainly is not too late for them to start over. All that is really needed to get started is a record player of some kind and to shop for a few of those records that you loved, and you are on the way to hours of fun and enjoyment.

I can assure you that once you get started and you rekindle many of those great memories that vinyl brings back to you and your collection starts to take shape you will be asking yourself why you waited so long to do this. You will find yourself enjoying every minute you spend with your collection of those great vinyl memory making records.

We have a large and growing selection of classic vinyl records on the site that can enhance your collection. Tell us in the comments about how your impressive collection has started conversations!

Safe To Call Your Records a Collection?

Record Collection

Now that is an interesting thought, you may have been a person who has a few records around and never thought of them as a record collection. In reality be it two, three or thousand your records are your collection, filled with important parts of your past by way of music. This collection of yours can be your trip through time, memory jogging and a nice trip down memory lane as often as you want to take it.

I remember when I started buying records they were just records and I did not really think of them as a collection. However it wasn’t long and they received the distinction of being my record collection.

Collecting RecordsMight be fun to think about how and when you started purchasing records. Do you remember the very first record you purchased? Was it a 45 or an album? Do you still have it? If you still have it, when is the last time you played it? One thing is for sure, if you have that first record and you see it or hear it again the memories start to fly, just like that purchase was made yesterday. Of course that goes for all or your records, but that first one holds a very special place in your past. If you still have that first record why not take a look at it, how worn does it look? The condition and amount of wear on that vinyl can determine how popular and meaningful that song might have been and for that matter might still be. That is just something fun to think about

What led you to the first purchase? The artist? The song? A friend? How soon was the second purchase? Was it the same artist? One similar? You see the questions are endless, all questions you can certainly ask yourself as you journey into the past and enjoy being lost with those great memories once again.
